Building Unity Through Positive Action
The Heritage Day celebration in Orange Farm at Arekopaneng Community Centre, South Africa, (MaAfrika Tikkun )
MaAfrika Tikkun partnered with SAUJS, Limmud and the Orange Farm community to hold the first Heritage day Community Build project. It was a chance for people from vastly different cultures to interact and work together in the process of help to uplift the impoverished Orange Farm community. We built a swing set, planted trees, donated a jungle gym and painted a mural. The Orange Farm community was involved in all the activities. This gave both the Jewish community and the orange farm community a chance to talk and discover the many similarities and difference that together make south Africa the rainbow nation.
